< back Further Studies in Powder (Pushing the Limits!)
Project DetailsHaving learned how to do the crackle texture in the first workshop, you will now learn how to create predictable effects with colour. These effects include veining, subtle shading, patches of colour, and working with colour to support your unique colour blends. By varying the construction techniques and firing schedules you will learn how to create new and controllable textures. Specifically, the two new textures you will learn are: dot patterns and precisely controlled directional textures. Bob has developed both of these textures recently so they are “hot off the press”. The current plan is that you will practise the new techniques by making wall-mounted shields that are about 10 inches high. One technique is best learned by making small bowls similar in size to the projects from the first workshop. The number of finished pieces you will take home depends on how quickly you work. Note that these pieces take more time in planning, executing, and finishing than the projects from the first workshop. |
